The Full Synopsis

A small-town, late brother's best friend, cowboy romance with a plus-size female main character.

BLAKE TANNER never thought she’d return to her hometown after her brother Reed died in a tragic accident. But when her mom gets injured, she comes home to help out on her family's ranch. Now, only five years after her brother's accident, she can’t hide from the grief, the people, or the guilt that she's been running from.

GAVIN MONTGOMERY didn’t plan for his life to be this way. He didn’t ask to be stuck with a pile of debt, the responsibility of a failing family business, or a little brother with a drinking problem. But when his dad died nine months ago, Gavin had no choice but to step up and take care of his family, even if that involved hiding the truth from them: that they’re about to lose everything.

When Blake reluctantly agrees to attend a charity “date auction” at the local townie bar, she figures supporting the family of her late brother's best friend is the right thing to do. Only Gavin is no longer the sweet young boy she remembers, and when he challenges her to ride the mechanical bull in front of the whole town, what choice does she have but to saddle up.

But getting back in the saddle might be a mistake. Because even if she's an expert rider, there’s no way in hell she's letting that cowboy hold the reins.

Will Blake and Gavin find a way to work through their grief and ride off into the sunset?

Or will they be over faster than an eight-second ride?

“Gosh. This book will put you in all the feels and have you tearing up or crying. It needs to be a dang movie. The ups and downs of this book are heartwarming and heart wrenching all the same. It's a beautiful story that is a must read and gosh...that ending.....*chef's kiss* I so glad she gets 'him' back!

I rarely write reviews, I just star rate them....but this deserved the hype up for others to read, especially when they want a good feeling or emotional type of book!! ❤”

“It's not often that I read a cowboy romance but this book made me realize, I should be reading them much more often. The curvy girl narrative drew me in initially. I ended up not being able to put this book down. It was that good! It left me with a bit of a book hangover honestly. The main characters have great chemistry and I also really liked their reverse age gap - with her being five years older. There's a lot of heartbreak and trauma going on for Blake, the FMC. She never really properly grieved the loss of her brother. Gavin, the MMC, also has his own pain to get through in the story. So, it's quite an emotional journey of a book. You'll need some tissues before the story is over, or at least I did. It'll sure tug at your heartstrings.”

Amazon Reviewer

“There's this unsettling moment in a mourning/grief journey where you are still hurting but you are at peace. You wake up one day and you can breathe and see colors, and your skin doesn't feel so raw or noises so loud; food has flavor and music does more than make you cry. That's this book, that moment where you aren't necessarily moving on, but moving forward with all the good memories and a tender heart. That moment where you look back and you cry both with happiness of what was an sadness for what'll never be. It's a beautiful story of persistence and family and love that transcends.”
